After a long run of paramountcy from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 in Japan for 4 weeks at no.1, it was finally dethroned by a Japanese title named Kamisama no karute with $3.9 million. Harry Potter's powerful run in Japan isn't stopping it, it still hit second with a 7th weekend result of $2.2 million, easing only 30% from last weekend which was provoked from increases due to Obon holidays. After 7 weeks of release in Japan, the Harry Potter finale has pulled in a staggering $114,786,132, marking the highest-grossing film of 2011 while passing Pirates of the Caribbean 4's $108 million. It also has become the fourth highest-grossing film in the Harry Potter series which is ruled by Harry Potter and the the Sorcerer's Stone with $153 million. It is expected to pass Harry Potter 3's final Japanese box-office cume to gross around $124 million. Even with 3D and more theaters , Deathly Hallows- Part 2 is having a hard time passing the total revenue of the first film in the series which grossed a massive $152,993,493. Expect it to gross around $124.2 million
Falling 3rd, Kung Fu Panda 2, in its second weekend., holds well with $1.8 million, but disappoints in box office cume($8,552,348). It should end its run with $16.6 million
Fourth, Transformers: Dark of the Moon rakes $1.7 million this weekend to add to its $48.6 million box office cume, which marks as the highest-grossing cume in the series by over $12 million. In Japan, 3D is very effective and allows a huge increase for the films as seen in the Transformers series. However, higher ticket inflation has a place in the increase of grosses over the years. Expect it to gross around $54 million.
